Book of 1st John Chapter 2

John is teaching us that we have an advocate, in Jesus who is the atoning sacrifice of our sins, and not us only but the whole world. Meaning the advocacy of Jesus Christ is the antidote to sin whiles we walking in the light.

John is showing us affection, as he has an intimacy way of addressing churches. He wants us to sin no more.

Regardless of our backgrounds or family sins or what we have done before, Jehovah is saying come lets negotiate for he wants us to sin no more.

Our deliverer is the redeemer, Abba father, The Provider, The Propitiator

The blood of animals e.g Sheep’s used before would cover the sin but not remove it totally, now we have the blood of Jesus which ran down the wooden cross at Calvary, it cleanses us from our sins and leaving us clean.

He is the advocate who stands for us to win cases when the accuser of brethren is condemning us

Isiah 1 vs 18 “Come now, let us settle the matter,"

says the Lord.

“Though your sins are like scarlet,

they shall be as white as snow;

though they are red as crimson,

they shall be like wool Jesus is calling to rescue us from sin, our advocate who is willing to negotiate with us.

Christ is not a mere suppliant petitioner. He pleads for us on the ground of justice, or righteousness, as well as mercy. He wants to reconcile us with the father through repentance, so we should continue confessing our sins and also have love.

For to know God, we must keep his commandment and love the brethren, and not love the world

Love builds us from within, “unconditional love” thats what the Lord is encouraging us to have, the Agape kind of love.

In verse 9 it says The one who says he is in the Light and yet hates his brother is in the darkness until now. Vs 10: The one who loves his brother abides in the Light and there is no cause for stumbling in him. Vs 11 But the one who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

Whenever anger or haterage commence to develop in your heart, be reminded that you are now in sin. For the spirit of un-forgiveness is a great sin to God.

As an advocate he is waiting for us to take our grievances unto him. Whenever the accuser of man starts accusing you deep in side, you should take your story to the advocate, who is always available to take the stand with you. He will lead you and tell you what to do.

An advocate who will make sure your case is dismissed and it will never be summoned to court again.

We need to develop and pray for an attitude of forgiveness and an attitude of love, unconditional love. For in Psalms 23 he says. “He refreshes my soul; he guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Meaning those that trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, for they are strong and cannot be shaken or moved.

Forgiveness should always be in our hearts so that we remain in the presence of the Lord.

The knowledge that our advocacy is ready to take our cases anytime should give us the inner peace. For he even changes our names Jacob was changed to Israel an advocate who stood for Joseph in Potifah’s house, when the wife lied accusing him that he wanted to rape her. Our advocate is with us and he hears our cries.

Let us listen to the voice of God and walk in the spirit.

Avoid false teachings for they divert you from the word of God and the truth.

The truth is Jesus Christ.

Keep his commandments and be holy.

An eye for an eye leaves the world blind and a tooth for a tooth also leaves the world toothless. We have an advocate who is saying in Matthew. 5 vs 38 -48 If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone takes your cloak, do not withhold your tunic as well.....

Like Stephen, While they were stoning him, Stephen appealed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Falling on his knees, he cried out in a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep

Chapter 2.. to be continued next week.

A blessed and great day to you all. Let us dwell in the word🙏
