God's Cares (13 June 2023) - Ps Leo T Mukumba

Scriptures:

Psalm 56:8-11 "You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book? Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call. This I know, that God is for me. In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can man do to me?"

Introduction:

These verses remind us of God's intimate knowledge of our struggles and His faithfulness to bring us comfort and deliverance. In the midst of our difficulties, God sees our tears and collects them in His bottle, symbolizing His care and concern for our pain. It shows us that we are not alone in our suffering, but rather, God is present with us, offering His loving support.

We witness the psalmist's heartfelt expression of trust and reliance on God. This passage captures the essence of a profound relationship between humanity and its Creator. It provides valuable insights and lessons that we can apply to our lives today.

Body:

The passage also speaks of the victory we can experience through our trust in God. As we turn to Him in prayer and seek His help, our enemies will be turned back. We can have confidence that God is on our side and that His word is trustworthy and praiseworthy.

1. He Collects our Tears and knows our wanderings.

The psalmist acknowledges that God is intimately acquainted with our struggles. He keeps count of our tossings and collects our tears in a bottle. This imagery portrays God's tender care and concern for His people. It assures us that even in our moments of distress, we are not alone. God is fully aware of our pain and suffering, and He treasures our tears. This teaches us to turn to God in our times of need, knowing that He listens and cares for us.

2. Trusting in God's Faithfulness:

The psalmist expresses unwavering trust in God's faithfulness. They confidently proclaim that God is for them and will cause their enemies to retreat. This declaration is rooted in the psalmist's firm belief in God's character and promises. It reminds us that we can place our trust in God's unfailing love and protection. When we face challenges or adversaries, we can rely on God's faithfulness to see us through. This encourages us to strengthen our faith and lean on God's promises in every situation.

3. Overcoming Fear:

The psalmist boldly declares their trust in God, affirming that they shall not be afraid. By recognizing God's presence and His commitment to their well-being, they find courage and freedom from fear. This teaching resonates with us today, as we often encounter fears and anxieties in our lives. When we trust in God and His sovereignty, we can find peace and confidence. We can approach challenges with boldness, knowing that God is on our side and nothing can ultimately harm us.

4. The Limited Power of Man:

In the closing verse, the psalmist acknowledges the limitations of human adversaries. While they may pose threats and challenges, their power pales in comparison to God's authority. This reminds us that our trust should be placed in God alone, rather than in the abilities or intentions of people. As we navigate through life's trials, it is crucial to remember that God's strength and guidance surpass any human opposition we may face.

Conclusion:

In summary these verses teach us God's compassionate care, His faithfulness, the freedom from fear that comes through trust in Him, and the limited power of man compared to God. As we reflect on these verses, let us strive to deepen our relationship with God, trust in His unfailing love, and find courage to face challenges knowing that He is always with us. Let us find courage and put our trust in God and not be afraid. No matter what challenges we face, we can have faith that God is with us, guiding and protecting us. The psalmist acknowledges that there may be human adversaries, but ultimately, their power is limited in comparison to God's sovereignty.

In conclusion, Psalms 56:8-11 teaches us about the depth of God's care, the victory we can experience through trust in Him, and the courage we can have knowing that He is on our side. Let us to turn to God in times of distress and to find comfort in His presence and faithfulness.
