Revival that Starts from within under Supernatural Visitation (Ps Mukumba) 07-10-2019

Title: Not an Exception but an actual Candidate of Miracle

John 5v1-15

Introduction

Ø The word Bethesda means: House of Mercy; House of Grace or Place of two outpourings

Ø This place still exists even to today. There is historical and archeological evidence of two adjacent pools of water in this area when you visit Saint Anne’s Church in Jerusalem

Ø This miracle was performed on a Sabbath day

Ø Define Exception: a person or thing that is excluded from a general statement/privilege

Ø I want to say though you might not have experienced a miracle, miracles are still happening

Ø God is still performing miracle even when we are not ready

Ø Even if when we being crowded with hopeless situations and doubt, rejection is slowly building in us

Body

Ø The story that we have read today is a story of a person that was waiting for 38 years

Ø I am now 43.5 years, but I just want to recognize this man he is a hero of faith to me

Ø Why would anybody especially a sick man remain in one place for 38 years if nothing was happening.

Ø This there was something speaking inside of this man. Something within him told him that it will be well

Ø The man should have gone somewhere and stopped hoping.

Ø His answer to Jesus shows some discourage and bitterness that had started building inside. He complaining and bitter.

Ø This miracle is an illustration of God’s grace.

Ø It was grace that brought Jesus to the pool of Bethesda, for who would want to mingled with a crowd of hopeless people. Jesus always find us when we hopeless and when no one wants to be associated with us. His is a gracious God

Ø Jesus did not heal all of them, he singled this man and healed him

Ø When Jesus asked the man whether he wanted healing, he thought the man would respond with enthusiasm but instead he began to give excuses.

Ø He had been in a sad situation for a long time

Ø The Lord healed him through the power of his spoken word. He commanded the man to do the very thing he was unable to do for a long time. In his command was the power of fulfillment

Ø The miracle could have not caused a problem except that it happened on a Sabbath day

Ø When God do miracles and good things you will be surprised because not everyone will celebrate with you. Instead of celebrating Scribes started question useless questions.

Ø Scribes had listed about 39 tasks that they were prohibited on a Sabbath day. Instead of rejoicing they fighting/grumbling and extra.....extra. They saw the miracle but they were not talking about the miracle

Ø There is no evidence that the man had a relationship with Jesus, but he only believed and received his miracle when Jesus spoke to him.

Ø If you believe the word of the Lord al thing are and will be possible in your life.

Ø Faith and trust in the Lord please him. Faith is a commodity of divine exchange. The bible says whoever come to God must believe that he is (Heb 11v6)

Ø For 38 years this man had a certain way of living that was painful.

Ø No one had ever helped him. He had no hope of ever getting healed

Ø No matter how you feel in your life God can minister to your deepest needs. The man’s situation looked hopeless but still ministered and changed his life forever.

Ø Don’t let your problem or hardship cause you to lose hope. God might be doing something special behind the scenes. The fact is Jesus was about 30 years when he ministered to this man. This means when God started planning to redeem this world through, he saw this man also as a candidate. God’s word is flawless and he shields those who take refuge in him.

Ø Psalms 18v30 As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.

Ø You should always know that God saw you before you even thought about him

Ø The way God ministers to us might help us to minister to other people that are hurting through the same things.

Ø Carrying a bed/mat on Sabbath was work to the Pharisees and unlawful but this was not an old testament law. The law in the old testament was “remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.”

Ø The man who had been healed and walked after 38 years, but the Pharisees were concerned with their petty rules.

Ø They saw both the miracle and the man carrying the mat, but they decided to put the miracle aside and started talking about the mat

Ø Their attention was on the broken rule

Ø This was a great miracle, but the greatest miracle was that the man had sins in his life and sins were forgive.

Ø He experienced two miracle (1) walking from the bed (2) and the forgiveness of his sins. This means he could have just walked with a miracle and still live with his sins and something worse would happen to him again.

Ø The Lords word in verse 14 suggest that this man's plight was a result of sin

Ø A small lesson in this teaching shows that Sins also attract the devil

Ø The Lord was merciful he first minister to his need and after ministering to his need, the mans sins were forgive.

Ø What a might God we serve. He absolutely loves us with all his heart and life

Conclusion

Ø This is great lesson in this story that if we raise our and stop excluding ourselves we become candidates of miracles

Ø Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Ø Romans 15:4-6 4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. 5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6 so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ø Matt 17v24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.

Ø 2 Timothy 3v16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Ø Psalms 119v105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Ø Psalm 119:130 The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.

Ø Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Ø Psalm 33:4 For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does.
