The Blessing of Seeking God's Mercy and Guidance (Psalms 119:65-66) - Ps Leo T Mukumba

Body:

1. Acknowledging God's Goodness and Faithfulness (v. 65):

The psalmist begins by acknowledging the goodness and faithfulness of God. He recognizes that God's dealings with His people are rooted in love and mercy. As we face difficulties and hardships, it is crucial to remember that God is good, and He will always remain faithful to His promises. We can approach Him with confidence, knowing that He is ready to extend His mercy to us.


2. The Transformative Power of God's Instruction (v. 66a):

In this verse, the psalmist expresses his desire to learn God's commandments. He understands that God's instruction is not merely a set of rules but a path to life and righteousness. Seeking God's guidance and wisdom is a transformative process that shapes our character, aligns our desires with His, and leads us on the path of blessing. Let us cultivate a hunger for His Word and be open to His teaching.


3. Humbly Seeking God's Mercy (v. 66b):

The psalmist concludes with a humble plea for God's favor and mercy. He recognizes his own limitations and dependence on God's grace. When we approach God with humility, acknowledging our need for His mercy, He responds with compassion and forgiveness. As we seek His mercy, let us also extend it to others, imitating the example of our gracious and merciful Father.


4. The Blessings of Seeking God's Mercy and Guidance:

a) Direction and Clarity: When we seek God's guidance, we gain clarity in decision-making. His wisdom illuminates our path and enables us to make choices that align with His will.

b) Protection and Deliverance: God's mercy shields us from harm and delivers us from trials. He is our refuge and strength in times of trouble.

c) Transformation and Growth: Seeking God's mercy and guidance leads to personal transformation. His grace molds our character and empowers us to live according to His purposes.


Conclusion:

May we be inspired to seek God's mercy and guidance with humility and a sincere heart. Let us trust in His goodness and faithfulness, knowing that He will lead us in the paths of righteousness. As we surrender to His guidance, we experience His transformative power, find clarity in our journey, and receive His abundant blessings.
