Title: For this Saying

Mark 7v24-30 (Matt 15v21-28) and Psalms 103v1-6;

Message - Body

Ø Jesus had come into this border city about 40 miles from Capernaum that he might rest but a concerned mother heard that he was there (at borders of Tyre and Sidon) and came to him for help.

Ø There were many obstacles in her way yet she overcame them all by faith and got what she needed

1. The 1st obstacle with her was beginning with her nationality. She was a Gentile Jesus was a Jew

Ø A Gentile is person who is not a Jew. Whilst a Jew is a member of the people and cultural community whose traditional religion is Judaism and who trace their origins through the ancient Hebrew people of Israel to Abraham

2. The 2nd thing, she was woman and the society those days was dominated by men

3. The 3rd thing, Satan was against her, for one of his demons had taken control of her daughters' life

4. The 4th thing, disciples were against her, they wanted Jesus to sent her away and let him have rest

Ø When the woman asked Jesus for help Jesus did not answer her. Encouraged by his silence the disciples urged him to send her way.

5. The 5th thing, for a time it looked as if Jesus was not even interested in her story

Ø The first time the mother cried for help, she addressed Jesus as the son of David which a Jewish tittle. But next time she cried out for help she simply said “Lord help me.”

Ø It was then when Jesus spoke about children first . This did not discourage but yet it gave her more. I believe she said in heart, “Oh so you have got the power to deliver my daughter, but you are just not feeling like doing it now. You don’t know what you are dealing with. I am Syrophoenician woman.

Ø She said, all I want is few crumbs of blessings from the table. After all its crumbs.

Ø You can't deny with the crumbs because they can be swept away anyway. Crumbs can be swept into the Bin and thrown into garbage. Before it goes to garbage give it to me, because, at least its still edible. I can be a candidate of the crumbs.

Ø She accepted her place and believe his word and she persisted in her plea

Ø It was not an easy situation but yet she triumphed because of her Great faith

Ø What is Great Faith: It is faith that takes God at his word and will not let God go until he meets the need.

Ø Great faith can even lay hold of the slightest encouragement and turn it into a fulfilled promise

Ø It is significant, that the two times Jesus speaks about Great faith he was talking to Gentiles and not Jews. This woman and the Roman centurion (who was said just speak a word and I know my son will healed.

Ø It is also worth noting that in both situations Jesus healed at distance.

Ø Faith can touch distance. Jesus does not need to go there. Only his word can do it.

Ø Hebrews 1v6: But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him

Ø Hebrews 11:1-2 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.

Ø In Psalms 103v1-6 David says, Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. 6 The Lord executes righteousness And justice for all who are oppressed.

Ø Let us not forget of his benefits. Both eternal and earthly benefits in Jesus Christ.

Ø But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, 18 To such as keep His covenant, And to those who remember His commandments to do them. 19 The Lord has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all. Psalms 103:17-19 17

Ø Lets us not forget that as we seek his heavenly blessing, he will give us earthly blessings as well. It’s the crumps.

Ø They key is in seeking the Kingdom. In Matthew 6:33 he advocates for us how to get these blessings “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

Ø John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

Ø Ephesians 1v2: 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

CONCLUSION

Ø V29 Jesus says for this saying go thy way. The devil is gone out of thy daughter

Ø As you have come today you have got things that you want from Jesus Christ and the Lord is saying your saying go your way it is done.

Ø I don’t know what you are going to say to him. But by your saying you will go your way.

Ø Everyone or most the people that experienced a miracle in the word of God said something.

Ø I believe their statements contributed to their miracle

Ø Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Ø May the Lord increase our faith in so doing
